Terms of Service

The service

Sunbeam reads the website you connect and answers your visitors' questions from your own content, citing the page each answer came from and declining when the answer is not on your site. You are responsible for the site you connect and for having the right to let Sunbeam read and index its content.

Trial and account

New accounts start on a 3-day trial that requires a valid payment method on file — a card is always required to start. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your subscription begins automatically at the price of the plan you selected. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity under your account.

Plans, billing, and overage

• Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring monthly basis at the price shown for your plan at the time you subscribe.
• Each plan includes a monthly conversation allowance. Sunbeam does not stop answering when you reach it — the widget keeps responding to your visitors, and conversations past your limit are billed at the flat per-conversation overage rate published for your plan.
• Payments are processed by Stripe. Fees are exclusive of taxes, which we add where required. Except where the law requires otherwise, fees already paid are non-refundable.
• We may change plan pricing or structure with reasonable advance notice; changes take effect at your next billing cycle.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use Sunbeam to:

• Connect a site you do not own or lack permission to index, or index content that infringes others' rights or breaks the law.
• Attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the service or its underlying systems.
• Resell or provide the service to third parties except as expressly permitted by your plan (for example, an agency operating the widget on behalf of its own clients).
• Use the service to publish unlawful, deceptive, or harmful content, or to violate the privacy or rights of your visitors.

Your content

You keep all rights to the site content you connect. You grant Sunbeam the permission needed to crawl, store, index, and process that content to provide the service — namely, to answer your visitors' questions from it. How we handle that data is described in our Privacy Policy.

Availability

We work to keep Sunbeam available and answering, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may perform maintenance, update features, and depend on third-party infrastructure that can experience its own outages.

No warranty

Sunbeam is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Sunbeam answers from the content you connect and declines when an answer is not there; you are responsible for the content it draws on and for reviewing it as appropriate for your use.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sunbeam will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the service will not exceed the amount you paid us for the service in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim.

Termination

You may cancel your subscription at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you keep access until then. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms or that we are required to act on by law. On termination we handle your data as described in the Privacy Policy.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product evolves. When we make material changes we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email. Continuing to use Sunbeam after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
